Email Clean Up Tip 1

Trying to clean up your inbox but the SUDS just aren’t working?

I’ve been fascinated lately with ways/tricks to make my life (and thus inbox) – less cluttered.

Email Clean Up Tip #1 – Create a Rule to move all/future accepted, denied or tentative meeting responses to a separate folder (or just trash).

1. Launch Outlook (sorry G-suite friends)

2. Find “Rules” button in the group of “Move” under “Home” tab. Click and choose “Manage Rules & Alerts” from drop down

3. Within pop up dialog box “Rules and Alerts” click “New Rule” button

4. “Rules Wizard” Step 1 box, CHECK “Apply rule on messages I receive”, press “Next”

5. Conditions – select the “uses the form name form” option in Step 1 box. Step 2 box, click on “form name” BLUE link

6. That opens a new dialog box, do this:
1) change “Personal Forms” to “Application Forms”
2) find “Accept Meeting Response” and click “Add”
3) repeat step (2) to add “Decline MR” and “Tentative MR”
4) click “Close” button to save the selection and exit

7. Return to “Rules Wizard” dialog box. Click “Next”

8. Select “move it to the specified folder”. IN Step 2 box, click “specified” link and send it to the folder of your choice (I made a new folder)

9. Click “OK” and back to “Rules Wizard”, hit “Next”

10. If no exceptions, click “Next”

11. In the final screen, specify a name for this rule, such as “Meeting Request Jail”

12. Mark the checkbox “Run this rule now on messages already in Inbox”

13. To finalize and watch your life get easier, click  “Finish”

VOILA – less clutter already. And we can keep going…

I’m already trying to figure out how to compile these so that I can hand them down like recipe cards to my progeny.
